The The North Face Men’s Chakal Pants are built for skiers and snowboarders who want dependable warmth and weather protection without sacrificing freedom of movement. A seam-sealed DryVent 2L shell blocks wind and wet snow while remaining breathable, and stretch fabric with articulated knees keeps the pants moving naturally whether you’re carving hard or navigating bumps. Heatseeker Advanced synthetic insulation provides lightweight warmth through the legs, with extra insulation in the seat to take the chill out of cold chairlift rides. When things heat up, the Chimney Venting system combines mesh-lined inner-thigh vents with breathable gaiter panels to help dump excess heat. Reinforced kickpatches stand up to ski edges and boot wear, while StretchVent gaiters help keep snow outside your boots. Available in short, regular, and long inseams, the Chakal is a durable men’s insulated ski and snowboard pant ready for cold mornings, storm laps, and bell-to-bell resort days.
Seam-sealed DryVent™ 2-layer fabric is engineered to provide waterproof, windproof, and breathable protection for changing mountain conditions. A non-PFC durable water-repellent finish adds additional protection against moisture.
Heatseeker™ Advanced synthetic insulation uses a dual-fiber construction designed to provide a high warmth-to-weight ratio, packability, and durability. The Chakal uses 40 g insulation through the legs with 60 g through the seat for extra warmth where it matters on cold chairlift rides.
The Chimney Venting™ system combines mesh-lined inner-thigh vents with mesh gaiter panels to encourage airflow through the pants, helping release excess heat and regulate temperature when you’re working hard.
StretchVent™ gaiters feature gripper elastic to create a secure fit around ski or snowboard boots and help prevent snow from working its way inside.
Articulated knees work with the stretch body fabric to improve mobility, giving the pants a more natural feel through carved turns, bumps, traverses, and other dynamic movement on the mountain.
High-denier kickpatches and reinforced hem binding add durability in high-wear areas, helping protect the lower legs against ski edges, boots, and everyday mountain abuse.
The waistband includes belt loops and adjustable hook-and-loop tabs, making it easy to fine-tune the fit around the waist for greater comfort and security.
Covered secure-zip welt hand pockets keep everyday essentials protected, while thigh pockets with polyurethane-coated #5 YKK® zippers provide additional easy-access storage.
An integration point at the back of the waist allows compatible outerwear to connect with the pants, helping create additional coverage against blowing and deep snow.
The Chakal is available in multiple inseam lengths to accommodate different heights, with a 30" short inseam, 32" regular inseam, and 34" long inseam.
The body fabric uses 94% recycled polyester, while the main-body and waist linings use 100% recycled polyester. The kickpatches and hem binding are made with 100% recycled nylon, and the Heatseeker™ Advanced insulation contains 80% post-consumer recycled polyester.
