The HEAD Discovery 78 Sport Skis are built for intermediate skiers ready to explore more of the mountain, combining easy handling with the performance to keep progressing. At 78mm underfoot, they’re quick edge to edge for carving groomers, while All-Mountain Rocker makes turn initiation smooth and adds versatility when the snow gets soft or chopped up. HEAD’s Auxetic Technology gives the ski a progressive personality—easy and forgiving when cruising, then stronger and more supportive as you push harder. A lightweight Wood Composite Core with Graphene keeps the Discovery 78 Sport lively, while Superframe Construction adds stability and control through changing snow. From morning corduroy to afternoon crud and side-trail adventures, the Discovery 78 Sport is an all-mountain ski that makes it easy to ski more terrain, build your skills, and get more out of every day on the mountain.
Auxetic is a unique structure that expands in width when stretched in length. In the ski, this means the structure strengthens under pressure, helping create a progressive flex that feels natural at slower speeds and more supportive when pushed harder.
The Superframe Construction boosts torsional strength, keeping the ski stable even on churned-up snow. As the ski flexes, the Auxetic material builds pressure against the Superframe, causing the ski to become stiffer the more it is flexed.
HEAD's Wood Composite Core blends wood with advanced composite materials to balance performance and durability. It provides stability and control while keeping the ski light, responsive, and manageable across changing terrain.
Graphene is an extremely light and strong material used strategically within the ski to reduce unnecessary weight while maintaining strength and responsive performance.
This profile combines early rise in the tip with traditional camber throughout the rest of the ski. The result is easier turn initiation and added versatility in softer or variable snow while maintaining dependable edge grip on firmer terrain.
Camber: 80%
Rocker Tip: 20%
The inclined Better Balance Base provides a constant ramp angle for different boot sole sizes, helping maintain the same mechanical advantage for easy turn initiation and stability at higher speeds.
A tough and durable base designed for reliable long-term performance through regular all-mountain use.
